Performance and Speed Enhancements

Our team has been diligently working on performance and speed enhancements across the board. Our hope is that you begin to see these enhancements in the coming sprints.

Admin

Two Factor Authentication Through Authenticator

SOMA Administrators can now enable two factor authentication for users utilizing an authenticator when signing into SOMA. This allows agencies to comply with current industry standards. Below you will find detailed instructions for enabling and setting up two factor authentication for your users. NOTE: MFA is not currently configured to work with Single Sign On users.

System Administrator Setup:

To configure a user, System Administrators must check the “MFA Enabled” box in user settings and then select Time Based OTP Enabled. Then save the user.

User Setup:

Once MFA has been enabled, the next time that user logs into SOMA using their email and password. They will then be prompted to set up an authenticator.

The user can use either the Google Authenticator App or the Microsoft Authenticator App. Both apps are available in the App Store or Google Play. Once the user sets up the authenticator app of their choosing, they can scan the QR code on the screen in the authenticator app.

SOMA Authenticator

Within the authenticator app, a code will be generated, and the user will copy that code to SOMA. Once the code is verified by SOMA the user will be given their normal access to the SOMA Platform.

Once the user has successfully signed in using the QR code for MFA they will no longer be required to scan a QR code when signing in, however, they will still need to open their authenticator app to generate a code and enter that code into SOMA.

Resetting Authenticator:

If a user needs to reset their authenticator (ie a new phone) a System Administrator can go to a Users Account in Admin and require a reset of the QR code. Under admin actions, clicking the “Reset MFA” button will prompt the user to scan a new auto-generated QR code after they login to SOMA again.

If you have any questions or need assistance setting up MFA, please contact your agencies CAM. They will be more than happy to assist.
